Hello all!
I got my new companion, he is Elder Johnson from Layton, Utah, and he came out to the mission six weeks behind me. He is more stone-faced than me if you can believe it, haha!
This week has been eventful as most of you are probably aware. We are continuing to proselytize as normal but being more conscientious about those who are sick and afflicted.
To be honest, when I heard that church was cancelled all over the world, I was pretty agitated and said some things to some people I probably shouldn't have and just was pretty grumpy when I found out. That is a big part of my work is to help people get to church so it felt like a wrench had been thrown into the gears. However, as I have taken some time to ponder and look at our current situation, it's not as bleak as we would tend to think. After all, we are a home-centered, church supported people, we had a prophet of God who led the church to start the Come, Follow Me curriculum over a year before we HAD to move our church services to our homes. Coincidence? I think not!
Do we view this as something that will keep us from progressing or do we view it as an opportunity to do even more for our fellow men? There are so many opportunities to serve right now, it is crazy! Ministering has definitely come to the forefront as we look to make sure our fellow neighbors are taken care of. With church being held at home, many less-active and non-member friends of ours will have an opportunity to come to Sunday services in a more normal and natural setting. "Hey, I know that our churches are cancelled this week but my family is still doing a scripture study and hymn singing, would you like to come and continue to worship with us?" How we view this situation can definitely impact whether it turns out for the good or for the bad.
I hope you all make the most of the next few weeks as I do the same here in Illinois! We have a man named Michael that will be baptized on April 18th and many more will follow so keep him and others in your prayers!
Sincerely, Elder Wilson
Also, some of you were asking about my mission president so here is the picture he sent us one day.
