Hi everybody!
This past week has been the busiest week of my mission thus far. We had about 4 appointments each day, one of them had six appointments, which means we were hopping from one thing to another and it was crazy! We are continuing to teach Heather and prepare her for her baptism on Nov. 2nd and she is on fire! I am so excited for and proud of her! We also put another person on date, a shy teenager named Zenora. She, like Heather, was wanting to be baptized which is honestly the best! She will be baptized on Nov. 23rd.
We also got to meet with Oscar this week. Oscar is such an interesting character! He just randomly showed up to the church for General Conference and a member went and sat with him and invited him back to the normal services the next week. AND HE ACTUALLY CAME! It was so cool! We met with him last Wednesday and found out some of his background, one weird fact about him is he has over $5,000 worth of liquor in his house! That's more than some of the liquor stores themselves, haha! Turns out his basement is the base for a biker gang and so he keeps it well stocked for their entertainment. So we have our work cut out for us teaching him about the Word of Wisdom but he is a very nice gentleman and he came again to church yesterday so I think it will go well.
Yesterday, we had Bro. Mathews come to church! So Bro. Mathews was actually a member in the Lindell Ward and I would go and visit him and actually spent part of Christmas with him last year. Then, when I moved to Rantoul, he actually moved up here to Hazelwood and I got to meet up with him again! He has been having a lot of health issues, but he's been feeling better lately so he actually got to make it to church yesterday for the first time in a long time. He is going to start preparing to receive the Melchizedek Priesthood and go to the temple to take out his endowment which I will hopefully get to attend in about a year or less.
Keep him in your prayers! Actually, keep all four of these wonderful people in your prayers! The work is moving forward and it is so exciting! I've been able to see the hand of the Lord in this work and I am so grateful He has trusted me to help watch over and prepare these people.
I love you all! The Church is true, the Book is blue, and Moroni is on the ball!
Love, Elder Wilson
