Hey ya'll!
This week had some memorable parts, I'll start off with the less spiritual part, haha. So last Thursday, we had a dinner with a family and all four of us were invited (since I'm in a ward share). We got there and the only food we see out is a cheese fondue so we're thinking that that is all we're eating for dinner and so we start chowing down trying to make the most of it and after we finish the fondue, they tell us that they were gonna cook up some steaks for us, hahaha! They were like "why would we feed you just a cheese fondue?", Haha! And then later on in the dinner, I was sharing a story about how some people don't know you can drive from Alaska to the United States and one of the elders looked at me funny and he asked "how?", hahaha! So we had to explain to him how Alaska is connected to Canada and not an island in the Pacific, it was pretty funny!
So last week we were visiting a less-active woman in our ward and we had an amazing experience with her! So the week before, we were in her neighborhood stopping by potentials and we saw her listed and so we just decided to stop by. She answered with a cigarette in hand and seemed surprised that we were at her door. We asked if we could meet, she said maybe next week and we set up a time. We didn't think much of it since she didn't seem too interested, just surprised. But when we came the next time (this past week), she was actually ready to meet and was happy to have us in! As we talked, we found out a couple of things about her. She hadn't been to church for about 25 years and didn't know why the church had her address since she had moved so many times. But here's the kicker, she has been wanting to overcome smoking but hasn't been able to do it. She was reminded that the only time she had quit smoking in her life was when the elders had come and prepared her for baptism many years ago. She had then prayed to Heavenly Father that the elders would stop by and help her quit smoking. Two days later, Elder Blood and I just happened to be in the neighborhood and decided to stop by. Coincidence? I THINK NOT! I know the Lord heard this sweet sister's prayer and had provided a way for her to receive the help that she needs.
If you are ever in need, make sure that you pray and in time, you'll receive what you need. I know that to be true and this experience has strengthened that testimony tenfold!
Have a great week! Love you all! Oh, and I got to meet the new mission president last Wednesday, President Bell. He's a pretty cool guy! I look forward to serving with him.
Love, Elder Wilson
