Hi everybody!
I'm back in the Big City! I am serving in the Hazelwood Ward and I work and live in Florissant, Missouri which is the northern-most superb of St. Louis. My area is pretty good but we have Ferguson, Missouri in our ward boundaries which can be pretty rough. However, a different set of missionaries covers those areas and so we don't have to worry about that as much. Pretty interesting though that we have the birthplace of BLM in our ward!
What's funny is that a member who used to live in Lindell Ward (my first area) moved up here while I was away in Rantoul, so I got to see a familiar face!
My new companion is Elder Blood, but don't let that name fool ya, he's a super kind and reserved missionary! He only has two months left of his mission so I'll probably be his last companion. What's interesting is that he also served in Rantoul with my previous companion, Elder Gallegos, and so we had a lot to talk about. Small mission! He is from Layton, Utah.
We've been getting lots of rain out here, so much so that the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers are a couple feet higher than usual and so there have been some over-spill into fields. However, St. Louis was specifically designed for that and so the higher water doesn't affect any of the residential areas. However, the farmers are not enjoying the wet year because they can't plant their fields! So there's gonna be less corn and soy crops this year.
Finally, I'm happy to report that Sister Klein made it safely out here and wasn't sucked away by tornadoes. (By the way, there have been two tornadoes in the mission this past month, neither of which were near me). But yeah, Sister Klein is actually a friend from school so we're getting good representation from home out here in the Missouri, St. Louis Mission!
I'm happy to be serving here in the Hazelwood Ward! It's taking me a while to adjust back to city life and hills (oh my goodness, there are soooooo many hills, it's like a roller coaster at times) but life is good. I hope you all have a wonderful week!
Love, Elder Wilson
