Hi everybody!
This has been another busy week but this time there are some fun stories to share.
So first off, we got to check out some cars! A perk of the mission is that you get to meet lots of different and cool people. We were walking down a back road and met a guy working in his yard. We got to talking about cars and he showed us his '63 and '80 Corvettes. He's also restoring a 1948 Ford pickup and another classic car that I forgot the name of. So you'll finally get to see some pictures from me.......... of cars. :)
We started teaching a great Baptist family and we both invited each other to each other's services. So yesterday after they came to our church, we went to theirs. First time I've attended a service other than an LDS one and it was interesting. There was lots of singing and music. It was also interesting to listen to a pastor preach.
To round out my church experience, my district went and toured a huge Methodist church in Danville. I love how much work and effort they put into their buildings of worship.
Now for the greatest highlight of the week. We had the great pleasure of two of our investigators committing to be baptized. One of them is a young man named Isaac. I love hearing his testimony because he talks about how when we were teaching him, he had this feeling that he needed to change and that this was the change that was right. I know that the Spirit touched his heart and that he will be so blessed for this decision to follow Christ. I am also so grateful that I was doing what I needed to do in order to invite the Spirit.
Now if you remember back to a few weeks ago, I talked about a man named Steve-o. Well yesterday, he committed to being baptized this summer. I am so happy for him because these past few weeks, we've become really good friends and now that he is taking this crucial step to return to Heavenly Father, I could not be happier!
The work has really picked up here in the Rantoul area. It is surprising the branch members and it is surprising us. I think it just goes to show that when we simply submit to the Lord and get to work, He will direct us and perform miracles through us. It has been such a blessing to see the changes occurring here and all the happiness that will come from it.
Something else I wanted to comment on was the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon. This past week, I was asked how I knew the church was true and what I was sharing was true. I gave it some more thought than usual and I realized that it was because when I read the Book of Mormon, I can literally feel the Spirit coming from it. That proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that the Book of Mormon is true because the Spirit is of God. When we feel that Spirit, we know that what we are doing is right and we need to follow that Spirit in everything we do.
Love, Elder Wilson
My phone is having trouble so I'll send the pictures next week. Sorry!
