Hi everybody!
Not much has happened this past week, it's been kinda slow. So here are some of the highlights.
First, baking is amazing! I love it so much! I baked sprits cookies and chocolate chip cookies last week and brought em to district council last week. It was so funny to see them eat the sprits because they thought it was just food coloring. They were freaked out when they tasted the strong lime and cherry taste. I loved it, haha. Also, one of them got this cool idea to combine both flavors and made a cherry limeade cookie. That had never occurred to me before so cool new idea. This week, I baked a ton of chocolate chip cookies!
While walking in the Hood one day, I saw a white-tailed deer. In the middle of a suburb? Nowhere near a forest? Just goes to show how Mother Nature is reclaiming the abandoned and forsaken neighborhoods. It really is beautiful to see.
Yesterday, I had an interesting spiritual prompting. A member in our ward hasn't been coming to church like usual these past few weeks so yesterday I suggested we gave her a call. That very morning, she had gotten into a car accident and was in the E.R. She is okay and will make a full recovery. And because of that random call, we were able to get her ministering brothers out immediately to give her a priesthood blessing and her ministering sisters are attending to her other needs as she goes through this trial. Now, there wasn't a vision from Heaven that got me to make that call, it was simply a regular thought that I should make that call. I love Elder Bednar's remarks on this, he said to "be a good boy, be a good girl, be obedient, follow the commandments, and the Lord will put you in situations where you can help make a difference." I'm glad to have been doing those things and got the chance to make a difference.
To put is quite simply, this church is true. Jesus Christ loves us and is our Savior. God the Father is our loving Father in Heaven. We have prophets once again leading us. We have communication with God available to everybody. We have scriptures to guide us back. We have the power and authority of God to perform miracles. We have eternal families and eternal marriages. Some people may say it's too good to be true. I simply say it's true.
"Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord; He is trampling out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored. He hath loosed the fateful lightning of his terrible, swift sword; His truth is marching on.
He has sounded forth the trumpet that shall never call retreat; He is sifting out the hearts of men before his judgment seat. Oh, be swift, my soul, to answer him; be jubilant my feet! Our God is marching on.
In the beauty of the lilies, Christ was born across the sea, With a glory in his bosom that transfigures you and me. As he died to make men holy, let us live to make men free, While God is marching on."
Love, Elder Wilson
