Hi everybody!
Sorry for not responding yesterday, our P-day got pushed to today for what is called Temple P-day. Every 6 months, we get to go to the temple! Now you're probably thinking, "Elder, you're not even close to your six month mark". How observant of you! This was for all the missionaries that actually have reached a six-month mark but the p-day applies to everybody to make things "easier". So yeah, that is why this was delayed.
Thanksgiving was awesome! Got to spend it with the Webb family. They were super sweet, they went all out for us, had all the fixings. Their stuffing was super cool, they made it from scratch (like everything else they made) but they also added unsalted cashews and dried cranberries to it which was surprisingly SUPER delicious! And for dessert, they had made a chocolate mousse pie which we begged for the recipe since it was so good! We're gonna make it again on Christmas.
On Black Friday, the Cothrans invited us and several other missionaries over for lunch and then we ended up spending a lot of the afternoon baking and decorating sugar cookies with them, haha. Luckily, we had no appointments, just plans to tract that afternoon so it all worked out and was super fun! I ended up in the kitchen with Brother Cothran baking since neither of us were artistically inclined so we got to bond a bunch. He's actually a professional pianist in the air force so shout out to Uncle Jacob! Was thinking of ya, haha.
On Sunday, an investigator we're teaching passed his baptismal interview! Hip-hip-hooray! Our first baptism will be Dan C on December 15th!
Today, we went to the Arch which was so cool! We had to get in these tiny balls and rock back and forth to the top, haha. It's crazy to think it was built in the 60's! It's the tallest national monument in America, standing at 630ft, it's 25ft taller than the Seattle Space Needle. It looks so beautiful and has an incredible view!
While I was there, an older gentleman came up to me and started talking to me. He didn't see my tag and just started asking about school. I told him I was a missionary, teaching about Jesus Christ for two years and will go to college for for dentistry when I get back. This blew him away since he figured I was just a silly millennial. Turns out he was a devout Catholic and actually tried to convert me, haha. Didn't really work, haha.
This week's fun fact about St. Louis is that all the roads use to be brick and they just put asphalt over it. Since the roads are in such poor repair, you can sometimes see the brick still underneath and a lot of the narrow alleys weren't paved over. Even though Arizona constantly does maintenaince, I really miss how smooth the roads were, haha.
Last thing, this Saturday is the day of service to kick off Light the World! It's gonna be a great season, full of service! If ya haven't heard about it yet, make sure to look it up! Such an incredible way to spend the season celebrating Christ's birth! Serve as He did! Make sure to find a way to get involved this Saturday!
Heavenly Father loves you! He wants you to return back to Him. To help with that, He has given us prophets and the Book of Mormon and Bible. Most importantly, He has given us personal revelation, where if you ask, He WILL answer! Get His help! It's the best and all it requires is us listening to Him in return for Him listening to us!
Love you all!
Sincerely, Elder Wilson
