Hello everybody!
So my first week was a blast! I love, Love, LOVE it here! There is a sense of unity and friendship here that is so unique and so wonderful. About 2,000 elders and sisters united in faith and purpose is quite amazing. When we all sing together at the Sunday night devotional, it is quite powerful because you know it is the feeling of hope ringing strongly to the world. We have the best job in the world, a job where everybody wins. The investigators and converts gain the Spirit but so do the Elders and Sisters. This is certainly the work of the Lord going forth.
Time certainly flies by. The classes can be long at times but other than that, everything seems to be a blur. We wake up at 6:20 each morning and go to bed around 10:30 each night. Between that time, we are learning, studying, exercising, and most importantly, EATING. We are given a buffet each meal and It's great. It tastes great but I get a little sick from it. But every Elder handles it differently, it's kinda weird. Anywho..... food is great, I will probably come back with some chub. :)
Now on to my superbulous district. My companion is Elder Giles from Utah. He is 5'3 of pure Spirit and Gospel and it's great to have him as my companion. He has actually taught me a lot of things that I never knew I could learn. We have three Canadians in our district, Elder Jarvis, Elder Dormuth, and Sister Pierson. They disprove every belief we have about the Canadians and make Canada sound so awesome. Next we have Elder Brown and Elder Hillyard from Utah who are both going to St. Louis with me and Elder G. We share a dorm and it's been pretty chill. They're super nice. Elder Zinn from Chicago and Elder Liufau from Washington became the zone leaders when they arrived and it's cool to see how their spirits have changed to fill that post. Sister Perfili from California and Sister Crawford from Idaho are the most athletic Sisters I have ever met, I wish I had their energy. And last but not least there is Sister Folkman from Oregon who just brings the whole district together with her social skills. We get along really well, surprisingly by the power of spoons, haha. Spoons are great.
In the first picture down below, the picture of us in front of the temple, it goes.... Front Row: Sister Crawford, Sister Folkman, Sister Pierson, Sister Perfili. Back Row: Elder Dormuth, Elder Hillyard, Elder Jarvis, Elder Brown, Elder Zinn, Elder Liufau, Elder Me, and Elder Giles.
Love, Elder Wilson
P.S. I can receive and read emails all during the week, I just can't respond until my P-day which is Tuesday.
